Essays I have written. |
I wrote 14 essays to summarize in writing my experience, philosophy, worldviews and opinions about various things. All of the topics included are more or less intertwined, yet the 14 broad titles serve to divide the work into reasonably uniform chapters. Some of the presentation is formal and deliberate, most was written hastily with broad, impressionistic strokes. The essay length ranges from 800 to 3,500 words. All were written in the winter of 1995-96. Taken individually, each shows a partial picture of my outlook; taken together they give a complete portrait, I hope. |
If any reader thinks I left out anything vital, let me know and perhaps some additions will be in order. I enjoyed putting my thoughts in writing, and wholeheartedly recommend the exercise as worthwhile. The goal is simply to help oneself clarify scattered themes and feelings, plus some incidental autobiographical reflections. To pinpoint one's opinions can be helpful, especially if it is desirable to exchange ideas with other people. If any other advantages result, e.g., amusing or inspiring readers such as yourself -- then so much the better. |
The present compilation, first made in September 1996, is altogether unedited, has not been proofread, has no index, and is accordingly raw or pure, not filtered as is most of my writing as seen in books and periodicals. |
