The 8th edition of this local guide came out in late April. If you own an earlier edition you need no convincing to acquire this latest incarnation. If unfamiliar with the book you miss a valuable tool. It presents a great wealth of data useful to gardeners, laid-out for ease of reference. The author is an avid gardener and savvy, organized, warm writer; she is like a computer possessing a discerning, sensitive soul. Her accounts prompt readers to leap up and go find out in-person what she describes. This edition features 85% of the entries updated or wholly new, a lower price ($19.95), more pages (352), smaller type, less British Columbia material, improvements in the table of contents, headlines and indices. No exaggeration: it a basic reference every northwest garden enthusiast should know and use; an admirable contribution. We are fortunate. I wholeheartedly endorse it.
