My Favorite Plants
|
In February 1999 I was asked to deliver a lecture on my favorite plants. Since I knew the other speakers who were also asked would be focusing on their favorite plants to LOOK AT, to be more helpful I chose to indicate my favorites in a categorized way. I essentially ignored choosing my favorite plants based merely on their ornamental appeal.
For edible FRUIT I chose Pineapple Guava (Feijoa Sellowiana), Black Mulberry (Morus nigra) and Mountain Huckleberry (Vaccinium deliciosum).
My favorites WEEDS were: Giant Hogweed (Heracleum Mantegazzianum), Orange Hawkweed (Hieracium aurantiacum), and Wall Barley (Hordeum murinum).
